Depends: This somewhat depends of your symptoms and physical findings. A thyroid ultrasound is typically directed at the thyroid gland. If you have neck swelling elsewhere you may want to mention this to the doctor or the ultrasound technologist who may take images of other part of the neck as well.

Maybe: It really depends on how focused an exam they do. If they are only interested in the thyroid gland, they might miss something. It is better to do a complete neck exam to avoid this.
