See Your Doctor Now: A neck mass in a young child can have a few causes. More information is needed such as duration, consistency, tenderness, & more. Most commonly cervical lymph nodes can enlarge due to infections however be aware that congenital anomalies do occur. Neck swelling: This could be a cyst,a lymph node or another structure. It is large enough, that it requires evaluation by a physician. Sometimes an Ultrasound may help sort it out. All the best.
