Safe - yes : Minoxidil is an OTC (over the counter) drug that if used properly is very safe. It works but if stopped the effects will eventually be lost. If you are noticing a change recently get checked by your physician. Myxedema or hypothyroidism often from Hashimoto's disease can lead to thinning hair and is common in adult women. It is easily corrected.
