After on depo and not having a period for 6 mo, my doctor told me to take provera (medroxyprogesterone) for a week to start my periods, but it didn't make it happen. why?

Often does not work: Progesterone can be used to trigger a menstrual cycle but it often does not work. It is not a surprise that it did not in someone who was on long term progesterone in the form of Depoprovera. Most likely birth control pills would work better.
