See a doctor: Melanoma can happen at any age, but the chances increase as you get older. However, it is one of the leading cancers in adults under 30. The individual risk all depends on genetics, how much exposure to sun, having many moles, etc. The best advice is to have your doctor take a look, and if he/she is concerned, you may be referred to a dermatology specialist.

Don't go by age: If it has irregular border, inflammation, ulceration, mult. colors, partial disappearance, bleeding, size bigger than pencil eraser should be checked by plastic surgeon or derm. especially if you have a family history of melanoma or you have had one before. Biopsy should be excisional. If it's melanoma thicker than 0.5mm, sentinal lymph node biopsy should be done with definitive excision.
