2 weeks: With today's over the counter pregnancy tests, if you are pregnant the test should be positive by 2 weeks after missing your period. If you still have not had a second period and you are normally regular, and the pregnancy test is still negative, you should make an appointment for further evaluation

Interesting question: Typically one conceives around ovulation which occurs mid-cycle,usually around days 14-16 if you have a normal cycle of 28-30 days. Then about 14-16 days later one would expect their period. If your period is more than a week late after this and you had been having unprotected sex around ovulation, then checking a pregnancy test would be warranted at that time.Bleeding would mean you aren't pregnant

A WEEK: if a week pass and still do not have a period, try home pregnancy test. if it come back negative wait for another week and try again if it come back negative ,and you still have no period, or you are having any other symptoms that suggest pregnancy, then go and see a physician for a blood test. I do not know how old you are, but please practice safe sex and protect yourself, it is not worth it.
