Depends: An elevated creatinine cannot be interpreted by itself. A physician needs to know more about how long it has been elevated and more about your medical history to be able to comment. In order to determine stage of chronic kidney disease, the glomerular filtration rate must be calculated (creatinine is only a part of this calculation).
