Withdrawal bleeding: when you are on birth control pills you actually do not get normal periods. The bleeding that results from taking pills is due to withdrawal from not getting the same levels of hormones as seen in your pills from the previous week. The fourth week of the pill is special and induces this bleed. because the hormonal pills thin the lining, 4th week bleeding is usually light.
