Colon CA in young: It is very unlikely you colon cancer unless you have a familial inherited disease such as Familial Polyposis or Lynch Syndrome. See your doctor to find out how to rule these out. Best of luck.

Cancer unlikely: Drink enough water so that your stool is soft. Take a fiber laxative like Metamucil. When you turn 50, get a colonoscopy.

See a doctor: If you are experiencing both at the same time, this could be a sign of a blockage other than cancer. In elderly patients we often see this pattern when there is impacted stool (feces that wont come out). Other causes include polyps (small non cancerous tumors) and congenital (born with) abnormality of motility (movement). 6 months is a long time. It is time to have a check up.
