Environmental: allergens you need to be tested.They cause post nasal drip which makes you cough plus itchy throat. Cold/flu is not associated with itching. There is also a condition known as pollen-fruit or oral allergy syndrome wherein one gets itching mouth/throat from eating certain fruits due to cross-reaction with pollen allergy. Apple, banana, melon, avocado are the more common culprits.
