Yes You Can: When you are in the plane you can chew gum.yawn or drink liquids during take off and landing If you suffer from allergies take your allrgy pill like Claritin or zyrtec and use steroid nasal drops if prescribed and take Sudafed if you do not suffer from hypertension Allergy pills also come with Sudafed like claritinD24 HOURS

Yes: I tell my patients with Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) to spray their nose with a topical nasal decongestant spray containing Oxymetazolin (Afrin etc) approx. 1 hr before departure and if it's a long flight 30 minutes before descending as well. If this doesn't work, a pressure equalization tube (ear tube) can be placed to give a more long-lasting treatment.
