See below: Anything that causes the lining of the nose to become irritated or inflamed-narrows the eustachian tub opening or passageway. Colds, allergies, pollution, smoke. Obesity can predispose one too. Very rarely is it a sign of more serious problems like nasal polyps, cleft palate or tumor.
