Studies: Some studies have shown that elevated evening cortisol levels correlate with sleep deprivation, however we more often see elevations in cortisol levels like this when there are physical and emotional stressors. I don't know if any of that is going on for you, but those are frequent causes for higher cortisol levels outside normal time frames such as the evening.
