Possible Emergency!: A blistering rash that is heralded by a single ulcerating lesion is concerning. The initial lesion may represent inoculation with Staph or strep bacteria (common after an insect bite or even may mimic an insect bite if the bite was not witnessed). If staph/strep skin infection is followed by generalized red spotty rash or blisters, then one must consider scalded skin syndrome or scarlet fever.
