Silent reflux: There are a lot of people with acid reflux who have no symptoms of heart burn. Some may have a chronic cough, sour taste in their mouth in the morning, or no symptoms at all. I've diagnosed a few patient's with GERD who's only issue was excessive tooth decay. If you have Barrett's, and are waking up choking, see your doctor for acid treatment, you can also try a consult here on HealthTap.

Silent reflux: This is an established phenomenon. Some people cannot detect heartburn pain for congenital reasons or due to scarring/nerve damage as a result of the reflux. It is time to return to your gastroenterologist for follow up, and probable repeat scope as you are on the higher end of the risk spectrum for esophageal cancer...and you need to address the plan for treating reflux.
