Levels: If you're newly diagnosed and started on thyroid replacement therapy, your TSH and free T4 and T3 (liothyronine) levels need to be checked every 6 weeks until your levels are in the desired range. Once they are in the desired range then maintenance levels can be checked once every several months or so or sooner if you have persistent symptoms. Hypothyroidism tends to cause one to lose hair rather than growth.
