What can i expect if i go to the er for constipation, tests, etc?

ER for constipation?: Depending on the severity, duration, circumstances, & accompaniments (e.g. blood in stool) of your constipation, expect the ER doctor to query you regarding medications, co-morbidities, & past GI evaluation. Next, expect a physical exam including a digital rectal check, x-ray for obstruction, & at least basic labwork. Appropriate to findings, you may get enema, disimpaction, colonoscopy, surgery.
