The popping: sensation probably comes from "tracking" abnormalities as your Patella (Knee Cap) "Glides" within the tendon along a groove in your tibia/fibula! It should get "better" as your tendonitis improves. A patella immobilization splint (see right) may help. Hope this helps Good luck Dr Z
