Painful bump: The painless bump is likely a lymph node, or less likely maybe a cyst. The new painful bump is likely a "reactive" lymph node (recent viral infection or even an infection you were unaware of?). A new painful bump could also be from an infected hair shaft or abscess in which case look for redness. Have your physician check them out to be sure.
