My girlfriend is having very sharp pain below the left side of her stomach, and its persisted through the night. possibly gas or something worse...???

Need abdomen exam: Without examining her it is hard to say what it is. It could be gas, or her ovary or diverticulitis. It could also be some thing like a pulled muscle. She needs to be seen by a physician if it is persisting. If she can not get to her own, you might consider an urgent care center. If it gets worse she should go to the emergency room.
