Probably not herpes: This doesn't sound like herpes and certainly not HSV2. Semi-continuous outbreaks ("up and down since last October") is too frequent. Failure to clear or to be prevented with acyclovir (in pretty high dose) is strong evidence against HSV. HSV2 wouldn't cause outbreaks on the face. You may have HSV2, but it's not the cause of most of these symptoms. Re-check with your doctor or an NHS GUM clinic.
