Observe carefully: It's hard to observe your own heart rhythm while you're busy working out, but the more common pattern which is probably what you're experiencing is extra beats when your heart rate is slow that are suppressed at high heart rate and may return as you cool down. Extra beats are universal and made worse by alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, stress, and lack of sleep. They also occur for no reason at all.
