Proteinuria: How long does your daughter had diabetes (D)? She needs to see a pediatric nephrologist (P) to take some blood work and collect a 24 hour urine to assess the amount of protein (P) in her urine. She may have this P due to either her D or a glomerluonephritis. The P will be able to interpret the blood tests that will be ordered and will be able to help you get a diagnosis and a prognosis.

Unclear question: I understand that your daughter has type I diabetes and she has protein in her urine. If that is correct, it not an urgent matter, but protein in urine portends kidney disease. It can be moderated by better glucose control and medication. It would be prudent to discuss it with your doctor.
