Spicy foods: especially in people with acid reflux, spicy foods can cause hyperacidity. The best way to avoid this is to avoid the foods in the first place, but if you're having heartburn after eating spicy foods, taking chewable or liquid antacids such as Tums (calcium carbonate) or Mylanta often helps. Regular use of medications to decrease stomach acid is sometimes necessary too. If this is frequent, see your doctor. Good luck
