Thorough eval: A number of criteria must be met to make an accurate diagnosis of ADHD/ ADD. It can present like other medical or mental conditions. A workup is necessary to ensure assessment is correct.

Technically not very: Technically a diagnosis is not difficult for a treating provider to make by using DSM-5 criteria and requires a clinical history and perhaps further information from another person who can attest to this. This diagnosis is fortunately/unfortunately more controversial than others within the field and the opinion of the provider you seek may affect a diagnosis more than any other factor.
