Would someone normally have a sore tooth near where you got a tooth removed?

Yes it is.: An extraction is a small surgical procedure. Take any pain meds your dentist prescribed for you and call their office if the problem persists.

Yes: Any time a tooth is removed a nerve is severed and adjacent bone and soft tissues are damaged. Nerve pain can result--and be felt in any adjacent structure. Any pain that lasts more than three days (and still requires pain medication beyond what you would take for a routine headache), should be evaluated by your dentist.
