There are many!: There is labwork checked at different stages of the pregnancy. The main purpose to make sure you are not anemic, and that there are no diseases, infections or conditions that could affect the pregnancy. You also receive ultrasounds to make sure the baby is growing appropriately. If medications need to be prescribed or if you have preexisting conditions, additional testing may be warranted.
