A member asked:

How effective is methotrexate for treating lung cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Occasionally used: In non small cell cancers of the lung, methotrexate has been employed along with platinum, taxol, (paclitaxel) and other chemo agents. Best for response are in combinations such as carboplat/taxol. In squamous cell Ca methotrexate with citrovorum rescue is somewhat more effective, in destroying the cell mitochondria. In squamous Ca of lung and other sites high dose MTX + rescue can be very effective.
