How effective are alteplase injections for treating stroke?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

FDA approved for AIS: AIS = acute ischemic stroke. Think FAST (http://goo.gl/I9dyo2) = Face droopy, Arms (or legs) weak, Speech difficult, Time to call 911. We have less than 3hrs after symptom onset. Check out http://www.drugs.com/cdi/alteplase.html & http://www.activase.com/iscstroke (yes, I know it's Big Pharma but it's informative, and no, I have no relation).
