Effective: Carteolol is in the beta blocker class and can be quite effective in lowering eye pressure. It typically gives about at 20-25% reduction of eye pressure from baseline. Because it is a beta blocker it is best not to use the drop right before bed, because it is not as effective during sleeping hours. It's best use is in the am and late afternoon/early evening. Good luck!
