A member asked:

I wanted to know when you give blood do they test it for leukemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Leukemia test: Leukemia is diagnosed from a bone marrow specimen. When you donate blood the blood counts are checked and need to be within a normal range. The blood counts may be abnormal if there is leukemia present but this does not give an actual diagnosis. Most of the time the blood counts are abnormal it is not from leukemia.
