Bronchitis v pneumon: With symptoms like this a chest xray should be done. But this could just be a bad case of bronchitis with cartilage irritation or pleurisy causing the pain. Sputum is an indication of pneumonia. You should see your doctor if this doesn't get better over the next 2-3 days.
