Yes, if excessive: A pregnancy test should first by taken to rule out the obvious. If you are not pregnant, I would not be terribly worried; it could take up to 18 months for the Depo medication to get out of your system. Irregular bleeding can be a side effect. If your bleeding is heavy and persistent, you should then be worried and seek medical attention immediately to rule out anemia.
