Germs: Touching dirty faucets with your hands can lead to transmission of germs. That is why it's a good idea to use a paper towel to turn the faucet off after washing hands or to handle the door knob in a public restroom. Some facilities have disposable toilet seat covers to decrease direct contact. Some carry antibacterial solution with them for to reduce risks. Take care.

Phobia: The good news is most germs are either neutral or beneficial, only a tiny fraction are harmful. In normal settings touching things is safe as long as you perform handwashing before handling food or after going to the bathroom or touching food. This may be a sign of obsessive symptoms and should be discussed with your primary care doctor.
