Hamstring injury: The major hamstring muscles originate as short tendons off of the ischium-- the deep bone that you actually sit on deep to the Gluteus Maximus. You can injure the hamstring and develop a bothersome (audible) click and a secondary bursitis in the region. Gentle stretching, NSAIDS, and time may help. Occasionally, after an MRI confirms the diagnosis, an ultrasound-guided steroid injection can help.
