Doctor can evaluate: A back problem that doesn't go away should be evaluated by a primary care doctor, who might refer one to a physical therapist, orthopedic spine doctor, or physical medicine doctor (PM&R) for further treatment. If work related, the pain could be due to repetitive motions. One should show the doctor what motions cause pain, what relieves pain, what medicines have been tried, any past injuries, etc.
