Depends: Depends on the surgery. Can be non-narcotic such as toradol or ultram. Stronger would be oxycodone or hydrocodone. Even stronger is intravenous morphine or Dilaudid given only in a hospital or surgery center setting. Also local anesthetics can be injected during surgery or a small pain pump can be inserted near the surgical site to slowly infuse local anesthetic.
