Rotated?: 5th metacarpal neck fractures ( boxer fxs.) are very common after closed fist injury. Angulation is very common but malrotation is not. Closed reduction( Jahss) is a common treatment followed by splinting.Angulation is well tolerated by the 5th metacarpal and 30 degrees or less is acceptable.Metacarpal shaft fractures that are malrotated require surgery. Best of Luck!
