Phantosmia: This can happen in cases where the olfactory nerve is irritated such as in trauma or infection or chemicals. If it comes & goes, you don't have to worry. If it progresses or continues, there are other things to rule out such as ENT issues or Neurologic problems, hence consult a specialist in those fields. They can help you rule out things like Sinus infection or Migraines.
