May need to go to ER: The most common cause of acute vomiting is viral gastroenteritis. Next most common is food poising. If you are not able to keep liquids down you can become dehydrated which is dangerous. Medication and sometimes intravenous fluids are needed to control vomiting and to correct dehydration. Ginger Tea can reduce nausea and may be more effective than Ginger Ale.
