Not normal: Its not normal to have a period for 12 days straight. However, the stress of surgery can sometimes keep you from ovulating and this can make you skip periods and/or have a heavy period or two. If it is a persistent problem and doesn't correct itself, you should see your Ob/Gyn. Best wishes!
