I've had major spinal fusion t10-s1, top three levels failed to fuse and the hardware is loosening. i'm in a great deal of pain, but have an occasional good day. seems to me the hardware is shifting position and either gives me some relief or horrible day

Failure to fuse: Failure to fuse, or pseudoarthrosis, is a risk of back surgery like yours. It happens in more than 15 percent of long spinal fusions. If it is painful or your hardware fails, you may need additional surgery. Consider a second opinion from a neurosurgeon or orthopedic spine surgeon who has a lot of experience with revision or re-do spinal surgery in New York or elsewhere. I wish you good luck!

Could be: It is not uncommon that a patient with a nonunion will ultimately have some loosening around their hardware. Choices are usually either to empirically treat your symptoms and give further time or to revise the surgery.
