A member asked:

The associated doctor told me that im ok with anemia im 12.2 when it should be 12.5 how is it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mild anemia: The normal lower range for hemoglobin (one measure of anemia) for women is lower than for men in part because of the regular blood loss associated with menstruation. But even then, this is only a population statistical measure, and therefore a percentage of "normal" results will fall outside this range. This is due to the variation in testing method itself and the nature of defining "normal."
