Is it possible to have normal blood sugar levels and insulin resistance?

Yes: Insulin resistance occurs as a result of genetic factors and excess weight, especially in the abdomen. To keep your sugar normal, your pancreas compensates by making more Insulin to overcome the Insulin resistance. Many times you can identify people with Insulin resistance who have normal sugars but high Insulin levels. They also have high triglycerides, low HDL chol, hypertension.

Yes: In earlier stages of insulin resistance you can have normal blood sugar fasting and random Most of the people with insulin resistance their muscle, fat and liver cells do not respond properly to Insulin and can not absorp glucose from the blood stream. As a result Beta cells in Pancreas try to compensate and make more insulin and blood sugar stays normal till beta cells fail&people develop Diabetes
