All medicines?: You've tried all possible remedies?! An answer to why the constipation is indicated. You could be hypothyroid, depressed, etc. let alone colon problems In terms of "natural remedies" I suggest a big glass of warm prune juice with breakfast and a glycerine or dulcolax suppository about an hour after same. But please try and get an explanation for why. Your body is telling you something.

A member asked:

Is something in my 9-month-old's diet causing him to pass very hard stools?

Yes: A lot of 9 month old babies begin to rely more on food and less on liquid for their daily nutritional needs. Very often, a baby gets a bit constipated at 9 months due to a decrease in their fluid intake. Adding some extra formula, breast milk, water, or even water mixed with a small amount of prune juice or white grape juice can often solve this problem. If it persists, consult your doctor.

Can solid food cause constipation?

Dr. Lawrence Rosen
Pediatrics 28 years experience
Yes: Any food or drink has the potential to cause constipation or diarrhea, though more common culprits are grains (rice or occasionally gluten-containing grains) and bananas. If you made a change and saw a worrisome change in stool frequency or consistency, eliminate the most recent foods and try again later.

Dr. Stephen Scarantino

Yes: It is very common to have constipation when you are pregnant. A pregnant woman may become constipated or have constipation that worsens due to all or some of the following reasons: pregnancy itself; prenatal vitamins (extra iron); dietary changes. Solutions? Consult with your obstetrician and try increasing your intake of fluids, fiber, fruits and vegetables; adding natural fiber stool softners.

Healthy food: Eating healthy foods like whole grains, fruits and vegetables helps prevent constipation along with drinking plenty of water. If your child is chronically constipated despite eating healthy, see your doctor.
