There used to be two lymph nodes on both sides of my throat; the right one is still there but the left one seems to have disappeared and now all that's there is a pea size hard bump. why is this?

Nodes do not leave: Lymph nodes are an aggregate of white cells and white cells fight infection and are involved in allergic and inflammatory activities. They work to prevent spread of foreign entities/infection.Ones in the neck respond to abnormal entities in your head and neck When entity is controlled or abolished the nodes return to their original size but sometimes they do not. If remain painful or large see MD.

Lymph nodes: lymph nodes are a sign of infection. Could have had an sore thorat , sinusitis , runny nose that resolved on one side ,but is still present on the other side. sometimes for unknown reasons on one side an enlarged lymph nodes persists. In any event if enlarg lymph nodes persists > 1 month it is important that a doc take a look and make sure there are not more lymph nodes,as that is serious
