Its kind of like: grief. We used to think it should be over within a year, but research debunked that myth. PTSD is also individual and can resolve quickly or linger for a very long time. So, there are no easy answers because hard and fast time tables are not appropriate. Given that, certain treatments do facilitate change better. Do your homework and consult a therapist to find out what works better...

Are you in therapy?: if not, get help. If you are, consider doing some EMDR to focus on the trauma and reprocess it so that you can return to work and a more normal life. This can help shorten the recovery process significantly.

It depends upon: numerous factors, such as how effective and side effect of meds, what type and response one has had to therapy, what types of therapy one has had, history of prior traumas, family and medical history, etc. Without knowing more about you personally, it’s hard to say. People with PTSD respond differently to various types of treatment affecting recovery times, for example.
