First day is OK: You can start a new pack either on the first day of your period, or you can be a Sunday start, starting on the first Sunday after you start. The advantage of a Sunday start is that you are less likely to have a period on the weekend. with a 21 day pack, take the pill the same time each day for 21, then take nothing for a week. You will start a new pack every 28 days.
