Inflammation: If there has been no injury,then acute inflammation such as seen in tendonitis,arthritis or gout must be suspected.If you don't get prompt relief with NSAIDS like ibuprofen, or if there is associated redness or swelling, or severe calf tenderness, get examined by a physician for diagnosis and treatment. Appropriate tests will be ordered after the evaluation.
