A member asked:

How often is nagleria found in tap water (florida) i had a drop fall in my nose and i'm kinda of worried ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tap water is safe.: Infections occurred in people who irrigated their nasal passages with infected water. If you irrigate make sure the water is sterile. The 2 cases in Louisiana had the organism in their pluming but the water system in the city tested negative. 2 previous cases in Arizona had infected untreated well water. infection is not associated with general things like drinking water, bathing or showering. It seems to be associated with water directly forced up the nose during irrigation.
